Posterous provide everything within their service and one service that I like is their custom domain service. I plan to add subdomain for my daughter and pointing it to existing posterous account where my wife upload photo of our daughter.

For sake of share I use other domain but the concept still same, lets get start!

What you need to do in posterous side

Login to your account and click “Setup yourdomain.com” under Tools menu.

Scroll down and click link “I already registered a domain name and want to set it up with my posterous site“.

Click edit button near “You can use or register your custom domain” section.

Click “Setup my domain” under Setup a custom domain I already own.

Enter domain name and click Save settings button.

Confirmation message from posterous will be displayed.

What you need to do on registrar side

I use domain with godaaddy, login to godaddy and choose domain.

click Manage,scroll and click Launch under DNS MANAGER.

Click Quick Add and enter this data :

– @ under Host

– 66.216.125.32 under Points to

Save the zone and wait until new ip address get promoted in maximum 3 days.

sometime people want to use www instead of straight http and I add other www record for that purpose.
